Accessing data using your copy of ferret

DODS allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into ferret use
set data "http://181.199.253.14/SOURCES/.Hydromet/.Seasonal_Forecast/.Precipitation/target_length/S/%28days%20since%201960-01-01%29streamgridunitconvert/%5BS+%5Ddetrend-bfl/dods"
If ferret refuses to read the file, saying
** netCDF error: Invalid Argument
is this a CDF file ?
it is quite possible that you can use set data after you download the netcdf file.

If you have questions, comments, or problems please use the help@iri link. This page will evolve as we learn more about how Ferret handles data downloads, and your help pointing out problems is much appreciated.

There is a bug in ferret which is corrected in release 6.0 (see notes about "nonstandard calendar axes"). Please upgrade if you are using monthly data.
