OPeNDAP allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into matlab use 
loaddap('http://181.199.253.14/SOURCES/.WORLDBATH432/.bath/%5BX%5Ddifferences/%5BY%5Ddifferences/Y+partial/dods')
